Is it normal for paint to change in color so drastically over just one year? Because it has been only 15 months since I used it, and it went on an entirely different green. It's now like a candy apple color, as opposed to a pale moss. Here, you can see a small blotch over the original color:

Argh!!!!!

Look above the window, and compare that to the wall behind the blue bookcase. Totally different colors.
:(
Once again, damn you Valspar! You are officially on my shit list.
I'm going to stop by Home Depot after work today and pick up a small can of something along these lines, a medium brownish tan. And then I'm DONE. Done with this damn window alcove!!

I think I like this one best, Behr's "Woven Straw":
Or should I go balls out and do a CRAZY color? Blue? Purple? Seriously. Am I losing my mind? Probably.
Yikes! I've never heard of that happening before! What a pain.
ReplyDeleteI've never had this happen with paint ... I use mainly Benjamin Moore and some Behr. Based on your experiences, I'm staying faaaaar away from Valspar paint. :(
ReplyDeleteOMG!! NOOOOOOO!
ReplyDeleteI learned my lesson after we painted our fence with old paint. It now looks like a complete color spectrum of cedar. So, now I always take the can back to where I got it & have them shake it up in their machine for me if it's been sitting for too long!!
Yeah, I'm with Leah. It probably has to do with it not being completely mixed =( So sorry that happened - how annoying!
ReplyDeleteI have personally had fantastic luck with Valspar. Not so much with Behr =/ I wonder if climates affect that kind of stuff.
Good luck with the new color! I think a bold color would look fabulous, and set off the lovely window nicely. Maybe even a jewel-toned green? Can't wait to see what you choose =)
That is really strange! I have never heard of that happening. =( I hate when house projects turn into huge debacles. Hope you can be all done with it soon!
ReplyDeleteThat would royally piss me off too. :(
ReplyDeleteWow, that's crazy! I can't say I've had the same experience, but I haven't tried to use any old paint lately. I wonder if they stirred it up with their high-powered stirring machine, would that help? Probably not.
ReplyDeleteSurely there is a silver lining here somewhere and the alcove will look even better with whatever new color you pick. :)
omg, not funny! paint has something against you lately. I always use Behr just because for me, in my climate, it's always been predictable and had good coverage. Hope it works out for you!
ReplyDeleteGo bold. Beige sucks.
