The wonderful news is that my awesome sister-in-law and brother are expecting their first baby, which means *I* get to be an aunt in about... oh.... 6 more months! :D
I was at a church rummage sale with my sis-in-law last weekend and I spotted this elephant priced at just a buck. Christina mentioned that she might be decorating the nursery in pale gray and yellow and white, with a possible elephant theme, so I had to buy it for her. The only problem was that it had a crackle finish which made the poor creature look like he had a majorly traumatic skin condition:
No worries, this was a piece of cake with semi-gloss gray spray paint on hand. It took a couple coats to completely cover the cracked finish, and I just love how smooth and modern this guy turned out:
A before-and-after comparison for ya:
So, I'm holding on to the elephant until C wants it, and if she ends up not wanting it, I sure am not going to cry over the fact that I'd get to keep him!
Ugh, I promise I won't go so long until my next post, and I promise the next one will be far more exciting. I hope you're all having a wonderful summer and discovering a ton of amazing thrifted finds and kicking ass with a bunch of great DIY projects yourselves. Adios!
