Uh Oh, Spaghetti-Os

It is no secret that the front windows were a huge part of what made me fall in love with our house.

There is a great dormer window in our master bedroom upstairs, and two amazing windows in the front (this is the best shot I could find, from the real estate listing before we even bought the house):

(And, of course, remember that our sitting room is no longer orange, eek!)

And one tiny square of beautiful glass in the front door:

Over the two years we've been in this house (wow, JUST realized, today is the exact 2-year-anniversary of closing on the house, most excellent!), this door has gotten progressively worse. The glass keeps bowing outward a little more and a little more until finally, on Wednesday, one of the glass triangles in the middle protruded out and when I opened the door, it fell out completely and just shattered in my doorway. Awesome.

Since we don't have it in the budget to replace the front door right now, I had to come up with a very cheap, simple plan: Scotch tape. I mean, come on, just how ridiculous does this look?

And here is how my door appears from the inside looking out.
Ugh, this is just really crappy, I'm telling you, the photos don't do it justice. It looks straight-up AWFUL. In addition to looking bad, it's obviously going to allow cold air in during the winter, and heat out. So, this is something we must fix pretty soon. I think we might end up getting a solid piece of glass and knock out the stuff that's falling apart as a temporary fix, but that just bums me out - the door is so charming! And to get rid of that square of original glass mosaic, well, that just sucks.

Do you guys know where to look for a new front door, or would just any major hardware store do the trick? Argh, the joys of home ownership.

A Swap - And A Probable Screw-Up

I am trying to import/export blogs here today, and that might mean some slight blog messiness. It also might trigger some kind of apocalypse, so if that happens, I'm sorry.....

... bear vvith me here! If this vvorks, it'll mean more frequent posts again (hopefully).
