Master Bedroom Update

I recently revamped the largest continuous wall in my master bedroom, and I love it so much I thought I'd share it on the blog. Let me remind you of how this particular wall had been for a while. There's a natural ledge on that wall and the previous owners put in stained wooden shelves, so I had leaned several framed pieces of art on that ledge:

A few weekends ago, I was cleaning this room and decided to just hang a bunch of the art so I could actually see it all.

I will admit that a lot of this is stuff I've made over the years, but the things that aren't mine are numbered and explained below.
1) Framed pressed flowers found at Goodwill.
2) "poop" embroidery from Etsy seller Cappywanna
3) "Shit" embroidery from Etsian OooohStitchy
4) "Sailing Back to my World" Print from Etsian LeiLiLaLoo
5) framed Paul Klee print that found at Salvation Army
6) The framed album cover for Thom Yorke's "The Eraser"
7) Kitty applique found at Goodwill.

8) Print from Philadelphia artist Chuck Kaiser titled "Walkin the Woo"
9) This is a reproduced painting of Amedeo Modigliani's that I ripped from an old calendar and stuck in a Goodwill frame.
10) This adorable cat fabric is stretched in a hoop and was given to me by Etsian CynicalRedhead

Hehehe. Let me show you a close-up of the brilliant "shit" hoop by OooohStitchy:

Now I have a question about the curtains. Do I leave them long as they are in the lefthand photo, or sew them shorter like I've made them look in the right photo?
And if I did sew them shorter, I'd have to fill in that gap (with more art, I'm thinking) between the dresser and window, right?

Any thoughts?? It'd be much appreciated!
P.S. I know this wall seems extra busy, but in truth this room is giant, and it doesn't feel so cluttered when you're standing there in person, I promise!

  2. I love the lay out of all the art. I say, leave the curtains long as well.

  3. Glad you're posting again! I vote to keep them long - I like the way it breaks everything up.

  4. I vote for remaining long, too, Sarah! Thanks for sharing your fun "tour" of artwork on your wall.

  5. Awesome, thanks for all the in-comments and off-the-blog votes... it's unanimous that folks say leave 'em long, so that's what I'll do! :)

  6. Aww, i am so glad to see my little Poop embroidery still displayed proudly in your house, even though you learned to embroider and can now do it about 10x better than i can! Haha! The room looks great!

  7. The wall looks great with all the art hanging up! I definitely vote long curtains, but I would go a step further and actually add floor-length curtains instead. It will give the illusion of a larger window and even higher ceiling, and will flow behind your dresser, rather than leaving a gap between the hem and the top of the dresser.
Just a thought, anyhow. Your updates look super!
